ScottMadden, Inc., one of North America’s leading energy consulting firms, is proud to join industry leaders as a presenter at the American Nuclear Society’s (ANS) annual Utility Working Conference (UWC) and Vendor Technology Expo. It will be held August 9–12 at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation in Amelia Island, Florida. This annual conference provides an opportunity to learn best practices and share real-world experiences with experts from across the nuclear industry.
Jordan Gillis, director at ScottMadden, will join representatives from Duke Energy and Susquehanna Nuclear to serve as a panelist for the session, “Performance Improvement: Using PI Tools to Address Performance Deficiencies and Exit Policy Note 14.” This session will highlight a plant that recently exited INPO Special Focus Oversight (Policy Note 14) and a plant that is currently working to exit. Both companies will share their overall approaches and lessons learned, focusing on the use of PI tools and steps taken to prevent recurrence and sustain improvements.
“As members of The American Nuclear Society, we always look forward to participating in this event. It is a unique opportunity for nuclear professionals across the industry—both vendors and utilities—to have detailed discussions about current issues and share our approaches to addressing them,” said Mr. Gillis.
Sean Lawrie, partner at ScottMadden, will join a panel and speak about “Resource Issues, Industry Trends/Best Practices.” This session, featuring additional speakers from Duke Energy, will address effective methods for resource utilization in nuclear operations and provide attendees with a practical understanding of the resource utilization issue as well as improvements to evaluate for implementation within their own organizations. Key topics of discussion will include:
- Employee development
- Organizational efficiencies
- Make-versus-buy analysis
- Contractor support
- Efficiency of the supply chain
- Overall cost management
Additional conference attendees will include Ed Baker and Marc Miller, partners at ScottMadden, and John Rendall, director at ScottMadden.
As further support for the conference, ScottMadden is pleased to be a sponsor of the ANS UWC Golf Tournament on Sunday, August 9 at The Ocean Links Golf Course.
