ScottMadden, Inc., one of North America’s leading energy consulting firms, is proud to join leading industry players as a presenter at the GEO-Energy Summit & Educational Forum being held November 12–13, 2014, at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center’s Davidson Auditorium and Education Training Facility in Huntsville, AL. This forum offers an educational program to discuss the synergies among geospatial technology and energy resiliency and explore how to leverage the collective expertise in geospatial information and energy management to provide for domestic homeland security and energy independence.
Ian Falk, director at ScottMadden, will serve as a panelist for the session, “The Future of Energy.” This panel will explore the future of energy in the United States with a focus on electricity. Key topics will include a discussion of the potential winners and losers in the future marketplace, the role customers and the traditional utilities will play, and the real underlying drivers that will cause a shift in how the market works today. Additional panelists will include: Jay Stowe of Huntsville Utilities; Dr. Jim Pasch ofSandia National Labs; and Brian Robinson of the Department of Eenrgy (DoE). Joe Hoagland of TVA will serve as moderator.
“With such a diverse and knowledgeable panel, with representatives from a local utility, federal agencies such as the DoE, and the private industry, the varied perspectives should lead to a great discussion. I look forward to learning from the other panelists and providing some of my perspective,” said Mr. Falk. “There has been a fair bit of discussion touting the impending downfall of the traditional electric utility. I believe there is still opportunity for change to protect aspects of the traditional model, but things will be different than they have been in the past. The sooner utilities recognize their situation and act, the better off they will be in the long run.”
