ScottMadden, Inc., one of North America’s leading energy consulting firms, recently joined top accounting experts as a presenter at the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Fall Accounting Conference. This three-day meeting offered a unique platform for EEI and American Gas Association (AGA) members to discuss current issues in the natural gas and electric utility industries, including effective rate case management.
During the event, Rick Starkweather, partner and a leader in the regulatory practice at ScottMadden, provided an overview of leading practices around forecast test year and multi-year rate plan (MYRP) filings.
“In addition to the adoption of utility best practices around planning, budgeting, and related documentation to support forecast test year or MYRP filings, there are also basic project management skills that utilities should master. In our experience, these project management capabilities can lead to more efficient rate case development processes and ultimately improved rate case outcomes,” explained Mr. Starkweather.
