ScottMadden Inc., one of North America’s leading energy consulting firms, and the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) released a joint report that focuses on approaches that California and New York are taking to integrate distributed energy resources (DERs) into the grid. The report describes key similarities and differences in the two jurisdictions in areas such as interconnection, hosting capacity, data sharing, and regulatory changes.
This report, “Distributed Energy Resources Integration: Policy, Technical, and Regulatory Perspectives from New York and California,” provides a summary view of the various initiatives being undertaken by both states to fully integrate DERs into the electric system.
“New York and California are leading the country in their development of policy and in tackling the technical challenges of integrating DERs,” said Cristin Lyons, partner and grid transformation practice leader at ScottMadden. “This paper provides an overview of the specific actions these two states are taking that we hope will be informative for other regions that are poised to face the same issues.”
