ScottMadden Releases Update on the Illinois Electricity Market

March 6, 2019

https://www.scottmadden.com/topic/microgrids/ScottMadden, Inc., one of North America’s leading management consulting firms specializing in energy, recently released the white paper, “Illinois Remains at the Forefront of Grid Modernization Advancements: DERs, Renewables, and Beyond.” This report is an update of the 51st State Perspectives paper released in June 2017 and explores recent progress in the state.

Illinois continues to set the standard for forward-thinking legislative and regulatory action in both grid modernization and preparation for the challenges of a future based on many more distributed energy resources. “The broad range of electric industry activity in Illinois offers a look ahead for other states and utilities that are similarly recognizing the need to prepare for a new way of doing business,” said Cristin Lyons, partner and energy practice leader at ScottMadden.

The 2019 update profiles continued progress in smart grid investments, reliability achievements under the Energy Infrastructure Modernization Act (EIMA), and the recently completed NextGrid Illinois of the Future study.
