ScottMadden, Inc., a general management consulting firm, recently partnered with the American Productivity & Quality Center (APQC), a benchmarking and best practices research organization, to host a financial management webinar. The session highlighted financial shared services organizations’ (SSOs) design options, emphasizing the critical difference between successful SSOs and those that fail. It’s all about having a good design.
During this session, Brad DeMent and Trey Robinson, partners at ScottMadden, reviewed the evolution of financial shared services and addressed questions related to financial SSO planning, sound service frameworks and governance structures, data analytics, and process robotics.
“If you are just beginning your shared services journey, there is no substitute for good planning, process standardization, stakeholder engagement, and development of a step-by-step road map to enable you to advance from single-function transactional services to multifunctional advanced delivery models,” said Mr. Robinson.
“We are seeing technology, such as analytics and robotics, advance financial shared services faster than other functions. Organizations need to assess this landscape quickly and develop strategic plans that will position them for the next three years,” added Mr. DeMent.
