ScottMadden, Inc., a general management consulting firm, recently joined industry leaders as a sponsor and presenter at IQPC’s 20th Annual North American Shared Services & Outsourcing Week (SSOW) in Orlando, FL. This event included presentations, practical workshops, and networking opportunities. Brad DeMent, partner and finance and accounting practice leader at ScottMadden, served his third year as conference chair.
ScottMadden presented an interactive workshop to share how to successfully establish a new shared services operation to provide value immediately back to the business. The session followed a company through its journey of setting up a new shared services organization, focusing on the essential activities to plan and launch a new shared services operation. The topics included setting the strategy, defining the opportunity, and organizing work streams to ensure all implementation resources are used most efficiently and effectively.
Additionally, ScottMadden provided a second workshop to review strategies to add value to established shared services organizations. The session addressed what’s next for maturing shared services operations and how shared services can add value within a manageable framework.
“The event’s 20th anniversary included more than 850 attendees, half being first timers. It was a great turnout with ongoing discussion of current trends in the marketplace,” said Mr. DeMent. “As expected, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) dominated the conference, but we also heard a handful of companies moving toward artificial intelligence (AI), or cognitive learning. Marrying RPA and AI is expected to exponentially increase value to the organization and take us to the next level of automation. It was also refreshing to hear so many organizations focused on taking service to the next level and delivering value above and beyond typical ‘customer’ expectation.”
