ScottMadden, Inc., one of North America’s leading energy consulting firms, will join leading industry executives at Platts 14th Annual Utility Supply Chain Management Conference being held January 18–20 at the Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, CA. The event will include presentations by ScottMadden experts on industry-wide changes that are driving the work of supply chain and how some supply chain organizations are tackling the toughest challenges of the day.
Cristin Lyons, partner and grid transformation practice leader at ScottMadden, will review how Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) are changing the way utilities operate and maintain the grid. This session will explore how regulators in some jurisdictions are driving fundamental changes to the way utilities operate. Ms. Lyons will highlight developments in the states that are leading this charge and what utilities are doing to respond to these new regulatory mandates.
“As DERs continue to proliferate, utilities are piloting the integration of many different resources and partnering with new entities. These activities have important implications for the manner in which supply chain procures products and services and the types of contracting relationships that will be needed,” noted Ms. Lyons.
Marc Miller, partner at ScottMadden, will join Craig Wardrop, director of nuclear fleet improvement at Ontario Power Generation (OPG), to present “Working Cross-Functionally to Improve Nuclear Parts Availability.” This session will offer perspective on how OPG, one of the largest nuclear operators in North America, has used a breakthrough approach to address longstanding issues with parts availability.
“It has been our privilege to partner with OPG Nuclear as they have pursued their vision to obtain the right parts on time, reduce churn in their work management system, and ultimately improve equipment reliability. Everyone in the nuclear industry is wrestling with these same challenges, and Craig and I are excited to share some insights on how OPG finally broke through and started achieving significant results from this ongoing effort,” said Mr. Miller.
