March 1, 2019

In his new role, Mr. Vlahoplus will serve as the firm’s Internal Advisor

ScottMadden, Inc., one of North America’s leading management consulting firms specializing in energy, has announced the retirement of Chris Vlahoplus as partner and clean tech & sustainability practice leader. Mr. Vlahoplus joined ScottMadden in 1991, became a partner in 1999, and was named clean tech & sustainability practice leader in 2013.

During his tenure at the firm, Mr. Vlahoplus assisted more than 40 companies focusing on electric generation business management, nuclear performance turnaround, merger integration, strategic and business planning, organizational restructuring, and management models. He also served as a member of the EDGE Advisory Board and on the Board of Directors for the Southeastern Wind Coalition, among other notable accomplishments.

Mr. Vlahoplus will continue to support ScottMadden as Internal Advisor. In his new role, effective March 1 and lasting indefinitely, he will be responsible for continuing to support ScottMadden’s energy practices and the interests of our clients. In particular, he will serve as the liaison for key client relationships and work, provide mentorship across the firm, and closely support ScottMadden’s analytics capability.

“I can’t put into words the impact Chris has had on this firm’s growth and success,” says Brad Kitchens, president and CEO of ScottMadden. “While Chris is retiring as a partner, he is not leaving the firm, and we will continue to rely on his advice and counsel in his new leadership role.”

“It has been a privilege serving our energy clients during these times of major change. I look forward to my new role helping develop ScottMadden’s next generation of consultants,” adds Mr. Vlahoplus.

Prior to joining ScottMadden, Mr. Vlahoplus worked in nuclear safety at Duke Power Company. He earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of South Carolina, an M.S. in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
