This event provides a unique place to meet utility regulators from every state in the United States, along with federal and international officials, learn about the latest in regulatory trends, and share best practices.
Cristin Lyons, partner and transmission, distribution, and Smart Grid practice leader at ScottMadden, will serve as a panelist for the session, “Sharknado: Are Claims About the Impending Demise of a Centralized Electric Grid Greatly Exaggerated?” This session will examine whether the current grid (and the utilities that operate them) is, and will continue to be, a critical infrastructure asset necessary to a functioning economy. It will address what political and regulatory support will be needed to maintain grid reliability, especially since most DG technologies and services continue to require a connection to the existing grid. Also on the panel will be Peter Kind of Energy Infrastructure Advocates, Dean Maschoff of Ernst & Young, and Jim Hempstead of Moodys Investor Service. Hon. Jim Gardner, commissioner of Kentucky, will serve as moderator.
