ScottMadden, Inc., one of North America’s leading energy consulting firms, will soon participate in a discussion about state frameworks for grid modernization at the Annual Mid-America Regulatory Conference (MARC) in Chicago, IL. This conference brings together Commissioners and staff from member state agencies, as well as representatives of regulated industries and the public at large, to share ideas and discuss regulatory and policy issues affecting their states, region, and the nation.
During a breakfast event sponsored by SEPA, Cristin Lyons, partner and grid transformation practice leader at ScottMadden, and Vazken Kassakhian, analyst at Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA), will discuss approaches that different states, including Illinois, are taking to grid transformation. The breakfast will provide perspectives from their new joint report focused on Illinois.
“Illinois has made significant investments in infrastructure that have prepared it well for the proliferation of distributed energy resources (DERs). These investments, coupled with performance-based ratemaking have laid an important foundation so that when DERs arrive at scale, the state will be ready,” said Ms. Lyons.
“Illinois is an exciting field of study because across all major aspects of grid transformation, the state is making exciting progress. We see significant investments in advanced distribution grid technologies and compelling groundwork laid for a future where electricity delivery is more efficient and offers customers more choices, while utilities nimbly manage a potential influx of customer-sited resources to yield value back to the grid,” said Mr. Kassakhian.
