ScottMadden and Bruce Power to Profile the World’s Leading Remote Radiological Monitoring and Emergency Response Program at the ANS Utility Working Conference

August 15, 2016

ScottMadden, Inc., one of North America’s leading energy consulting firms, is proud to join industry leaders as a presenter at the American Nuclear Society’s (ANS) annual Utility Working Conference (UWC) and Vendor Technology Expo. The conference, being held August 14–17 at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation in Amelia Island, Florida, provides an opportunity to learn best practices and share real-world experiences with experts from across the nuclear industry.

Sean Lawrie, partner at ScottMadden, will join Dan McArthur, senior strategist of nuclear oversight and regulatory affairs at Bruce Power, to discuss the implementation of the world’s leading remote radiological monitoring and emergency response program. This session will examine how Bruce Power leveraged technology and innovative tools and techniques to increase efficiency, reduce workload, and enhance collaboration with government agencies. It will also review how Bruce Power gained recognition from federal regulators, provincial authorities, industry experts, and The International Atomic Energy Agency as the industry leader in emergency response, off-site radiological monitoring, environmental reporting, and emergency response processes for daily operations and beyond design basis events for regular operations and responded to emergency situations at its Canada nuclear power site. Jordan Gillis, director at ScottMadden, will serve as the session organizer.

“I look forward to sharing with the industry how Bruce Power and ScottMadden partnered to implement the world’s leading emergency response program and saved operational costs, which is a key strategic focus area of the ‘Delivering the Nuclear Promise’ initiative,” said Mr. Lawrie.

As further support for the conference, ScottMadden is pleased to be a sponsor of the ANS UWC Golf Tournament. “In addition to participating as speakers and session organizers, we always like to support ANS and help sponsor some of the ‘fun’ side of the conference as a way to celebrate our industry,” said Mr. Gillis.
